Alphabetica is a whimsical and unorthodox ABC book first created as a collection of characters who then chose their letter and discovered themselves in rhyme. This book is dedicated “To all who work and play in Alphabetica” and is designed for broad appeal, each page a surprise of colorful figures and poems to keep all ages awake and entertained. Rather than in a simple word or two, the alphabet is memorialized in imaginative colored-pencil characters and eccentric, amusing rhymes. Although preschoolers do enjoy the book read aloud for its colors and rhythms, it is cataloged in libraries under youth poetry and is good reading for those age 8 to 80. A friend told me she has been enjoying it over her morning coffee.
